Member of Parliament for Akatsi North Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe who doubles as a Ranking member of the Education Committee in Parliament, has described the new Ghana Education Service (GES) 2024/2025 academic calendar for Basic and Senior High Schools as a disorganized educational system.
Speaking earlier on ABC in the morning, Hon.Nortsu-Kotoe highlighted that the 2024/2025 academic calendar for basic and senior High School has been distorted, stating that parents are now confused with the number of days their wards are to stay at home and days spent in school.
He complained of the government’s inability to make amends with the Parliament Education Committee on some of these worrying developments in the education sector.
Meanwhile the Executive Director for the Institute for Education Studies (IFEST) Dr. Peter Anti has noted that the implementation of the double track educational system has been the main reason Ghana has not been able to go back to its normal educational calendar after COVID-19.
He explained that the double track system has increased enrollment yet it needs redesigning to serve a purpose.
