The Founder and Flagbearer of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, has announced that he has converted his personal residence into the party’s headquarters.
Speaking with Joshua Ayira on ABC News Ghana regarding the APC’s strategy for the upcoming December 7th elections, Ayariga emphasized the significance of this move.
Founded in 2016, the APC now operates 265 offices across the country as required by its constitution.
However, Ayariga revealed, “We are putting up new offices. For instance this is the APC Headquarters. It is my personal house that I have turned to the Headquarters. It remains the party’s headquarters for life.”
While acknowledging the crucial role of these offices in political campaigns for fostering convergence and communication, he stressed that “offices actually do not win elections. That’s the fact of the matter.”
Reflecting on the 2016 elections, Ayariga noted, “In 2016, I had more than 265 offices across the country.”
He candidly admitted that the key to electoral success often lies in financial influence.
“When it’s election day, monetization determines the victory. I can come to you 10 times and campaign. But because of the level of hardship, people prefer to take goodies and vote than just to vote,” Ayariga stated.
“If you don’t have money, you are out of the game.
“So we are looking at people with more money than brain’s. So it has become like those who have more money will contest and those who have nothing will not. But this is not the kind of leadership we want. And that is why the monetization of the electoral processes increasing over the years.
“Because why will as country where the Per Capital Income is less than $5 and then asked these citizens to save a GHS100,000 just to pick a form and fill, that is even not a campaign,” he explained.
