The Electoral Commission (EC) has dismissed allegations of colluding with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to influence the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Responding to accusations by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the EC’s Head of Training, Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, refuted the claims at a security symposium held at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, describing them as baseless.
Dr. Quaicoe reassured Ghanaians of the transparency and integrity of the electoral process, stating that the system is designed to prevent any form of election rigging.
“There is no way an election in Ghana can be rigged,” he emphasized.
He explained that rigging would require the complicity of multiple stakeholders, including party agents and electoral officials, which he argued is not feasible under Ghana’s current electoral framework.
While acknowledging the possibility of isolated irregularities or fraudulent activities, Dr. Quaicoe stressed that the presence of party agents and other stakeholders at all stages of the process ensures accuracy in vote counting and results declaration.
He reiterated the EC’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, urging stakeholders to focus on fostering trust in the system rather than spreading unsubstantiated claims.
