A raging fire has consumed portions of the Techiman Central Market in the Bono East Region, leaving traders in distress as numerous shops and goods have been destroyed.
The blaze, which broke out early Monday, caused extensive property damage as emergency services scrambled to contain the inferno.
Divisional Officer I (DOI) Alex King Nartey of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Public Relations Department confirmed the incident and assured the public that firefighters are working tirelessly to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring areas.
This latest incident adds to a troubling series of market fires across Ghana. On January 2, 2025, the Kantamanto Market in Accra, known as one of the largest secondhand clothing hubs in the world, was ravaged by a massive blaze, destroying hundreds of stalls and affecting thousands of traders.
