The Nmati Abonase Taskforce has halted the ongoing construction of the National Trade Fair Centre and the Trade Fair Hotel.
Speaking to ABC News GH, the taskforce claims the land in question belongs to their traditional area, and they are asserting their rights to reclaim it.
According to the leader of the taskforce (name not captured) local government authorities have failed to return the land, despite repeated requests.
“We won’t be ignored. This land belongs to us, and we are here to take back what is rightfully ours,” the leader declared.
Also spotted at the scene were unidentified groups in a pickup truck and on motorcycles approaching the site.
In response to the escalating situation, a team from the Ghana Police Service has arrived at the scene to restore order and ensure calm.
