Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Nana Sarfo Oduro, has shed light on the absence of GFA President Kurt Okraku, following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis “Nana Pooley” Frimpong.
Okraku, who has faced public criticism for his silence, is currently undergoing medical treatment abroad, making it difficult for him to directly address the incident or visit the affected club.
Speaking during a meeting between a GFA delegation and Asante Kotoko’s leadership, Sarfo Oduro explained the situation:
“Since the incident occurred, he has not spoken publicly. The reason is that Kurt is not feeling well and is currently not in the country. If he was well, he would have been the first to visit Kotoko’s camp. Once he recovers and returns safely, he will be here.”
This meeting marked the first official engagement between the GFA and Kotoko since the violent altercation during the club’s league match against Nsoatreman FC, which resulted in Frimpong’s fatal stabbing.
Meanwhile, Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee Chairman, Nana Apinkra, has insisted that the club will not resume football activities unless concrete measures are implemented to enhance security at match venues.
