The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has declared the party’s full support for any legal action aimed at reversing what he described as the “illegal revocation of appointments” by the government.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Nana B condemned the decision to annul all public sector appointments made after December 7, 2024, insisting that it lacks legal justification.
“NPP will fully support any legal action to undo any illegality,” he stated, adding that he had already directed his lawyers to challenge the matter in court.
Nana B criticized the directive, arguing that employment should not be revoked based solely on the date of appointment.
“The mere date of appointment does not validate termination,” he emphasized, highlighting that many of those affected were individuals recruited into the military, police, and customs services.
“Affected workers are not just numbers; they are fathers, mothers, and breadwinners,” he said.
He also accused President Mahama of acting contrary to precedent, stating, “Mahama cannot revoke the appointment of these recruits, just as Akufo-Addo did not.”
He urged affected employees to formally petition the government’s decision.
The government’s revocation order was announced through a circular issued by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, directing all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to annul appointments made after December 7, 2024.
The directive cited non-compliance with good governance principles and required institutions to submit compliance reports by February 17, 2025. However, the NPP insists that the move is unconstitutional and politically motivated.
“The revocation directive lacks legal justification,” Nana B reiterated, calling on affected individuals to rally together and seek legal redress.
