Despite the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) currently operating without a constituted board, Managing Director Nana Kwasi Boatey Esq. has expressed confidence that this will not hinder his ambitious plans for the company.

Speaking on Focus on ABC, he noted that his agenda aligns with the President’s vision and is therefore unlikely to face any resistance. “The agenda that I am working on is a vision that the President holds. I am sure it will be a shared vision,” he stated.

While acknowledging that a board is essential for governance, he maintained that the company’s daily operations and strategic goals are already on track.

“We are implementing crucial reforms, including legislative amendments to update our outdated 1965 act, tackling procurement bottlenecks, and addressing copyright concerns,” he explained.

According to him, the company is a “sleeping giant” that has been unable to capture the market share it deserves due to structural challenges that need urgent resolution.

Nana Boatey further stressed the importance of leveraging digitalization to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

He announced that GPC is actively working on enhancing its copyright enforcement measures and meeting with the Publishers Association to address market policing issues.

“You’d be surprised how many books we’ve invested in printing, only for someone to copy them and sell them at half the price,” he lamented.

However, he assured that with the right legal frameworks and enforcement strategies, the company would overcome these challenges. His leadership, he reiterated, is committed to “punching through” and driving the transformation of Ghana Publishing Company with or without a board in place.
