Economist Daniel Amarteye-Anim has called on the government to tackle the nation’s fundamental challenges to ensure sustainable development.
Speaking in an interview with ABC in the Morning, he expressed concerns that political leaders are not doing enough to drive the country’s progress.
He emphasized that job creation and addressing basic needs should be at the forefront of national policy, arguing that a focused effort on these key areas would help establish a foundation for long-term stability and growth.
Amarteye-Anim also criticized the suspension of the Gold for Oil policy, calling the move premature.
While he did not elaborate on the long-term impact, his remarks suggest that the policy’s abrupt halt could have negative economic implications.
He urged policymakers to prioritize sustainable solutions that would yield tangible benefits for the nation rather than relying on short-term interventions.
“Our political leaders are not making a strong enough push to develop this country, despite the vast resources we have.” He made this remark in reference to job creation and the need to provide basic essential services.
