The Kusasi community in Ashanti Region has been thrown into mourning following the fatal shooting of its deputy chief, Kaad Naba Malik Azimbe, in front of his house in Kumasi.
According to a source who confirmed the incident to ABC News GH, the chief—who was popularly referred to by his skin name, Kaad-Naba Tiewin II.
“He was first rushed to Manhyia Hospital and then to KATH where he was confirmed as dead,” the source revealed.
The late chief, who served as the leader of the Kaad community in Kusaaug and also represented the Kusasi Ashanti regional chief due to the latter’s illness, was described as a central figure in the traditional leadership structure of the Kusasi people in Kumasi.
Reacting to the incident, a community elder expressed outrage over the killing, stating, “So if these people could follow him to his house and shot him dead, that tells you the impunity we fit these people ‘monkeys’ in Kusaung really are.”
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the community is demanding justice as police begin investigations into the shocking assassination.
