The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East in the Greater Accra Region, Naser Toure Mahama, has passed away.
The four-term legislator, who represented the National Democratic Congress (NDC), reportedly died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a period of illness. He was 60 years old.
Mr Mahama, a native of Kue in the Nkwanta South District of the Oti Region, first entered Parliament in 2013 and went on to serve four consecutive terms, representing the people of Ayawaso East.
During his time in Parliament, he was known for his commitment to constituency development and active participation in parliamentary debates, particularly on issues affecting urban communities and national development.
News of his death has come as a shock to colleagues in Parliament, party members, and constituents, with tributes already beginning to pour in from across the political divide.
Further details, including funeral arrangements, are expected to be announced by the family in collaboration with the leadership of the NDC.
