One person has died while two others were rescued following a serious road traffic accident at Breku Forest near the Pra River on the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Ashanti Region.
The accident occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026, involving a Howo Sinotruk truck with registration number AS-4114-24, which was transporting cement. According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the truck overturned, trapping three persons onboard.

A combined rescue team from the Konongo–Odumase and Juaso Fire Stations, led by Sub Officer Siaw Richardson, responded swiftly to the distress call. Upon arrival, firefighters successfully extricated two injured victims from the wreckage.
The injured persons were immediately handed over to the Ghana Ambulance Service and transported in an ambulance with registration number GV-589-20 to the Juaso Government Hospital for medical attention.
One person was, however, confirmed dead at the scene. The body was retrieved by the rescue team and handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations and necessary procedures.

The accident caused extensive damage to the head of the Howo truck. The cause of the incident is yet to be determined and remains under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
The Ghana National Fire Service has commended the rescue team for their professionalism, bravery, and prompt response, which contributed to saving lives despite the severity of the accident.
