The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has relaunched its “Setting the Records Straight” campaign as part of efforts to counter what the party describes as growing misinformation and propaganda from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking at the relaunch held at the NDC headquarters in Accra on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the party’s Deputy National Communications Officer, Arko Gunn, accused the opposition of deliberately spreading false narratives aimed at undermining public confidence in the government.
According to him, the increasing circulation of misinformation by the NPP was gradually shaping public perception and therefore demanded a firm political response. “In a democracy, elections are not won by silence. They are won by trust and constant engagement,” he stated.
Mr. Gunn noted that within 17 months in office, the NDC government had introduced decisive measures to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, and implement policies targeted at improving the lives of Ghanaians. “But governance alone is not enough. Communication is important,” he stressed.
He explained that the relaunch of the “Setting the Records Straight” platform would help ensure that government policies, programmes, and achievements are effectively communicated to the public while addressing concerns and misinformation. “Political misinformation requires political response, firm, direct, and unapologetic,” he added.
The “Setting the Records Straight” initiative was previously introduced by the NDC as a platform to respond to public concerns and criticisms from political opponents.
He further stated that on behalf of the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and the National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC remains committed to protecting the image of the government against what he described as falsehoods and propaganda from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, the party will not tolerate what it believes are deliberate attempts by the NPP to spread misinformation aimed at undermining or tarnishing the image of the National Democratic Congress government.
