Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme produced a strong finish to claim gold in the men’s 100m final at the African Senior Athletics Championships held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Eseme crossed the line in 10.25 seconds to secure victory in a closely contested race that kept officials and spectators waiting for confirmation following a tense photo finish review.
Ghana’s Joseph Paul Amoah and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu both competed strongly on home soil but were unable to secure podium finishes despite encouraging performances earlier in the competition.
A brief delay followed the race as officials reviewed the finish, eventually confirming the final standings and times for all eight finalists.
Eseme ultimately emerged winner ahead of a tightly packed field, with just fractions of a second separating several athletes in one of the most competitive finals of the championships.
