Medeama SC will play their home matches in the Preliminary Round of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League at the Tarkwa and Aboso (TnA) Stadium after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) granted the venue Category 2 Stadium Approval.
The approval marks a historic moment for both the club and the Western Region, with Tarkwa set to host a CAF interclub competition for the first time.
CAF issued the certification following a detailed technical inspection, which concluded that the TnA Stadium satisfies the governing body’s requirements for hosting CAF Youth and Women’s National Team qualifiers, as well as Preliminary Round fixtures in CAF interclub competitions.
Although every fixture will still require final confirmation from CAF in line with its competition regulations, the approval means Medeama can begin their continental campaign on home soil instead of moving their matches to another venue.
The development comes as a major boost for the Ghana Premier League champions, who will now enjoy the backing of their supporters in Tarkwa as they seek to make an impact in this season’s CAF Champions League.
The stadium’s approval is also seen as a reflection of the collaborative efforts of the Ghana Football Association, Medeama SC, stadium authorities and other stakeholders, whose investments and upgrades helped ensure the facility met CAF’s required standards.
