Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced a 24-man Black Stars squad for the team’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as a friendly against Morocco.
Mohammed Kudus returns to the squad after missing Ghana’s previous international assignment.
The latest selection also sees first senior call-ups for Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor, with both players earning places following impressive club performances.
Gyamerah, 31, has been a regular at right-back for German side SV Elversberg and played the entire 90 minutes in their 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich on September 13.
Donkor has also earned his first call-up after establishing himself at Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls. The midfielder scored the only goal in their 1-0 victory over Columbus Crew on September 12.
Goalkeepers Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang have been selected, with Asare returning after representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The defensive unit consists of Gideon Mensah, Baba Rahman, Jan Gyamerah, Derrick Luckassen, Nathaniel Adjei, Jerome Opoku, Kojo Oppong Peprah and Alexander Djiku.
In midfield, Queiroz has opted for Kwasi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi, Augustine Boakye, Ronald Donkor and Ibrahim Sulemana.
The attacking options are Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Mohammed Kudus, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Ibrahim Osman, Prince Adu Kwabena and Jordan Ayew.
Ghana will begin their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign against Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 27.
The Black Stars will then travel to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions at the Grand Stade de Tanger on October 4.
The three fixtures will be Queiroz’s first matches since beginning his new mandate as head coach after reaching an agreement with the Ghana Football Association to lead the Black Stars.
