The management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has clarified that the appointment of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, has not been terminated.
This statement comes in response to a letter written and signed by the Chairman of the University Council, Professor Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi, which indicated the termination of the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment.
In a statement signed and issued by UCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Major Kofi Baah-Bentum, on Thursday, it was emphasized that the University Council had not convened to discuss or make any decisions regarding the Vice-Chancellor’s tenure.
“Council has not met to discuss or take such a decision and that, at its last meeting held on Tuesday, 30th July 2024, records available indicate that matters discussed and decided upon did not include the Vice-Chancellor’s tenure,” the statement read.
The University management urged the university community and the general public to disregard the publication of the termination letter.
They reiterated that the Council had not made any decisions affecting Professor Boampong’s position, ensuring that the Vice-Chancellor remains in office.
