Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister for Works & Housing, has highlighted its significant impact on job creation and economic development.

Speaking at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto launch in Takoradi, Nkrumah asserted, “The Ghanaian economy is hugely informal, and any economist knows that there is the need to formalize the Ghanaian economy through digitization.”

He credited Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s support for the progress, emphasizing that digitization is a means to enhance access to government services and improve business efficiency.

Nkrumah detailed the various digital initiatives undertaken since 2017, including overhauling the Ghana National Card and ID System, introducing mobile interoperability, and implementing a Digital ID System for addresses.

He noted, “Today there have been a boost in e-commerce and deliveries creating jobs for thousands of Ghanaians.”

His remarks came as the NPP showcased its latest manifesto, focusing heavily on job creation and business development, with 90% of the content dedicated to these areas.

The manifesto launch, attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia among others, underscores the NPP’s commitment to a thriving economy.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia campaign, stressed that the upcoming election is a pivotal choice between the NPP’s proven job creation record and their rivals’ promises.

“The choice should be clear—vote for the one with a proven track record in job creation,” Aboagye declared, setting a decisive tone for the campaign.
