Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leader in Parliament, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of intentionally delaying the collation of election results in certain Eastern Region constituencies.
According to Afenyo-Markin, the NDC is aware they have lost parliamentary seats in these constituencies and are frustrating the process despite already collating their results.
“It’s before them, and they’re just frustrating the process,” he claimed in an interview.
He alleged that the NDC is feigning a lack of necessary documents, such as pink sheets, despite having already compiled their results.
“When a figure is mentioned, they now go tracing, pretending they don’t have the pink sheet. Yet they have compiled their results,” Afenyo-Markin said, criticizing the party’s approach as undemocratic.
He emphasized the NPP’s confidence in their victory, particularly in the case of Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh, whom he described as the NDC’s target.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has relocated the collation of results for three constituencies—Akwatia, Nsawam Adoagyiri, and Fanteakwa—to the Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.
The decision comes after disputes and chaos at some collation centers in the Eastern Region.
The EC stated that the move was necessary to ensure a secure and smooth collation process without further disruptions.
