The Africa Institute of Governance and Security (AIGS) has extended its congratulations to COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno on his appointment as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service.
In a statement issued on March 15 and signed by Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Security Strategist and Governance Specialist, the institute described his swearing-in on March 14, 2025, as a significant milestone in Ghana’s security landscape.

The statement also wished IGP Yohuno success, emphasizing that his track record in operational excellence and dedication to public safety would help him build on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare,” the statement read.
The institute also paid tribute to Dr. Dampare, acknowledging his tenure as a period of exceptional leadership that reshaped the Ghana Police Service through professionalism, internal accountability, and community engagement.
“Dr. Dampare’s tenure as IGP was defined by an exceptional commitment to disciplinary leadership that reshaped the Ghana Police Service.
His emphasis on professionalism, internal accountability, and community engagement not only restored public trust but also set a high standard for law enforcement in Ghana,” the statement read.
It further highlighted his contributions, including enhanced police visibility and anti-corruption initiatives, describing them as “a testament to his gallant leadership.”
The statement concluded by recognizing Dr. Dampare as one of Ghana’s most impactful IGPs and expressed hope that IGP Yohuno would continue to advance security and governance in the country.
