A 35-year-old businessman, Daniel Koranteng, also known as Nana Amakye, has denied allegations that he sold photographs of slain investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale to Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong before Suale’s murder in 2019.
The accused, who has been provisionally charged with murder, was remanded in custody by the Madina District Court.
Prosecutors argue that Koranteng was linked to the killing through call records, which placed him near the journalist’s residence at the time of the murder.
While the prosecution contends that Koranteng provided images of Suale that were later broadcast on Net2 TV, where Agyapong allegedly called for retribution, the accused has rejected claims that he sold the photographs to anyone.
“He admitted knowing the deceased, visiting Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, and taking photographs with the deceased but denied selling the photographs to anyone,” the prosecution told the court.
Authorities also revealed that after declining multiple police invitations, Koranteng fled to the United Kingdom in 2019 before returning to Ghana, where he was arrested in Amasaman on March 15, 2025.
With committal proceedings scheduled for April 1, 2025, Koranteng remains in custody as investigations continue.
“During the investigation, the accused declined multiple police invitations and later fled to the United Kingdom in August 2019. He subsequently returned to Ghana, and intelligence led to his arrest in Amasaman on March 15, 2025,” the prosecution stated. Meanwhile, authorities maintain that investigations into the case are ongoing.
