Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, has asserted that the Akufo-Addo-led administration has achieved more in the construction of schools and universities than any other government in Ghana’s history.
Speaking at the launch of the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Campaign Working Committees and Women’s Conference in Kumasi, Dr. Prempeh highlighted the accomplishments of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government, urging party members to support the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for continued progress.
Dr. Prempeh highlighted the government’s extensive initiatives, citing the construction of 111 hospitals and the employment of over 200,000 healthcare workers as unprecedented achievements.
“No government in this country has built schools like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done. No government has established universities like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done,” he emphasized.
He also noted the administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the distribution of free food, electricity, and water, as well as the significant increase in the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program, which now supports approximately 300,000 individuals.
As the NPP prepares for the upcoming general election, Dr. Prempeh expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s potential to build on Akufo-Addo’s legacy.
“I say it because I know when Dr. Bawumia becomes President, he will do more than Nana Addo. So, I need to commend Nana Addo before Dr. Bawumia comes,” he stated.
The rallying cry reflects the NPP’s strategy to leverage the current administration’s track record in their bid to secure another term in office.
