The Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun, has passed away after a short illness, Asaase News has confirmed.
According to sources close to his family, the Imam fell ill on Tuesday night and was rushed to the Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for urgent medical care.
Sadly, he succumbed to the illness shortly after being admitted.
His untimely passing has shocked many, as he was widely respected for his efforts in promoting peace, unity, and development both within the Muslim community and across Ghana.
Community leaders and family members have announced that arrangements are being made to transport his remains to his residence in Suame, where Islamic burial rites will be conducted.
