Denis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign, has labeled Alban Bagbin as the worst Speaker of Parliament in Ghana’s history.
His remarks came during a discussion on Newsfile on November 11, where he criticized Bagbin’s handling of the controversy surrounding four vacant seats, stating it could have been managed more effectively.
Aboagye cited inefficiency as a key reason why the issue had not been resolved smoothly, emphasizing that the Speaker’s leadership contributed to ongoing disruptions.
The Supreme Court has intervened, directing Speaker Bagbin to stay the execution of his ruling after a case was filed by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Earlier in the program, Afenyo-Markin accused Bagbin of fostering chaos in the House, which led the NPP MPs to abstain from attending a recent recall session due to concerns about potential violence.
Aboagye praised the NPP’s response, calling it an act of emotional intelligence aimed at preserving order during a volatile period.
To restore balance and ensure smooth legislative functions, Aboagye urged Speaker Bagbin to respect the Supreme Court’s directive and recognize the NPP as the Majority.
He reiterated former President Kufuor’s sentiment, emphasizing that effective leadership is necessary to resolve issues and maintain harmony in Parliament.
