A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has expressed doubts about the party’s chances in the upcoming December polls with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as the ticket.
In an exclusive interview Atsu Tamakloe, Dr. Tamakloe stated, “That ticket I personally don’t believe can win a genuine election in this country.”
He further suggested that Dr. Bawumia did not have a say in selecting his running mate, which he believes will hinder their campaign’s effectiveness.
“Why should Bawumia not be allowed to pick his own running mate? Whether he will gel with his running mate, that is his palava,” he remarked.
Dr. Tamakloe also criticized recent controversial statements by Dr. Opoku Prempeh, specifically his remarks about Kwame Nkrumah, which have sparked significant backlash. “Certain mistakes are made and they are difficult to correct.
So that mistake made by Napo, look at the reaction as a result of his statement that has sort of degenerated almost everywhere, even outside the country. Nigerians are even talking about it,” he explained.
He cautioned the Electoral Commission against any attempts to manipulate the election results, warning that such actions could lead to serious unrest in the country.
Despite the NPP’s confidence in their candidates, Dr. Tamakloe remains skeptical of their ability to secure a genuine victory.
