Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ghana’s Minister for Works & Housing, has affirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will continue to advance the digitization initiatives set forth by former President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.
According to Nkrumah, both Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Education Minister Opoku Prempeh will expand upon the “firm digitization foundation” laid by Akufo-Addo, emphasizing that the efforts are crucial for formalizing Ghana’s predominantly informal economy.
Nkrumah highlighted key achievements in digitization since 2017, including the overhaul of national ID systems and the introduction of mobile interoperability and drone delivery services, which have boosted e-commerce and job creation.
The NPP’s focus on digitization and economic growth was a central theme at their 2024 manifesto launch in Takoradi, where thousands of supporters gathered at the Ghana Secondary Technical School.
The manifesto emphasizes job creation and business development, with a significant portion dedicated to these areas.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia campaign, stressed the party’s success in creating 2.1 million jobs and promised continued focus on a thriving, private enterprise-driven economy.
As the election approaches, Aboagye has positioned the NPP as the party with a proven track record in job creation, contrasting their achievements with the promises of rival parties.
The event, attended by key party figures including President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia, and National Chairman Stephen Ayensu Ntim, highlighted the NPP’s strategic campaign focus and set the stage for a competitive electoral race.
