Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has voiced strong belief that his side remain genuine contenders for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League crown following their vital victory over rivals Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
The Phobians claimed a hard-fought 1-0 triumph in Sunday’s Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium, with Baba Adamu’s first-half header proving decisive. The result narrowed the gap on league leaders Medeama SC and injected fresh momentum into Hearts’ title pursuit.
Asare, who delivered a solid display between the posts to secure the clean sheet, stressed that the championship race is still wide open and urged his teammates to maintain their focus in the run-in.
“Yes, anyone can still win it. If you look at the top four or five teams, it’s all about determination on the field. If we continue to win our matches, we have a great chance,” Asare said.
The Black Stars goalkeeper added that the Super Clash victory could mark a turning point for the Phobians as they chase silverware this season.
“Winning the league would be a huge opportunity for us, and I believe most of the players deserve it. This win today will help us be more aggressive and focused in our upcoming matches,” he noted.
The three points lifted Hearts of Oak into third place on the league table with 39 points, keeping them firmly within touching distance of the summit.
Hearts will look to build on their resurgence when they host Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Stadium in their Matchday 23 encounter, as they continue their push for the league title.
