Bernard Mornah, the disqualified flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has announced his intention to challenge the recent ruling by the Accra High Court, which dismissed his case against the Electoral Commission (EC).
Speaking to the media after the ruling on October 21, Mornah expressed deep dissatisfaction with the judge’s decision, which he believes undermines his right to contest the upcoming presidential election.
His comment follows Accra High Court’s dismissal of an application filed by Mornah who sought to contest his recent disqualification from the upcoming presidential election by the Electoral Commission.
This ruling, delivered on Monday, October 21, eliminates any legal avenues Mornah might have pursued to challenge the Electoral Commission’s decision, presenting significant obstacles for the PNC as the December elections approach.
Mornah’s application aimed to overturn the Electoral Commission’s verdict, which cited irregularities in his nomination forms as the primary reason for his disqualification.
These irregularities raised questions about the validity of his candidacy and sparked intense debate within the political landscape, prompting concerns about the fairness and transparency of the electoral process in Ghana.
Bernard Mornard was seeking an order restraining the EC from embarking on any activity relating to the Presidential election until he is declared as a duly nominated candidate and allowed to contest the elections.
However, the Judge after consideration of all the issues ruled against Bernard Mornah and the PNC.
