Ghana has recorded its first upward movement in the FIFA rankings since July 2024, following a strong start to the 2025 international calendar.
In the latest update, the Black Stars have moved up to 76th place globally, improving from their previous 77th position, which they had maintained since November 2024. The Black Stars’ improved ranking is a result of their impressive performances in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
During the most recent international break, Ghana secured two crucial victories, defeating Chad and Madagascar in Matchdays 5 and 6 of the qualifiers. These wins helped Ghana leapfrog Israel, who dropped two places in the latest FIFA update.
Despite their progress on the global stage, Ghana’s continental ranking remains the same, holding steady at 14th place in Africa. Head coach Otto Addo will now focus on maintaining this momentum as Ghana prepares for upcoming fixtures.
The Black Stars will participate in a four-nation tournament in June, followed by crucial World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali in September.
A strong showing in these matches could see Ghana further climb the rankings as they push for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
