Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, entrusting the former Strasbourg boss with a long-term project at Stamford Bridge.
The 41-year-old Englishman has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2032, following the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day.
Rosenior expressed deep gratitude after the announcement, describing the role as a major milestone in his coaching career.
“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club,” Rosenior said.
“To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job. I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Rosenior had all but confirmed the move while still in charge at Strasbourg, revealing that discussions with Chelsea had already reached an agreement.
“I cannot turn down this opportunity to join an incredible club, incredible squad who are Club World Cup champions,” he stated.
The appointment strengthens ties within the BlueCo ownership structure, with Strasbourg and Chelsea both operating under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital umbrella. Rosenior’s familiarity with the group is seen as a key factor in his selection.
He will not arrive alone in west London. Rosenior confirmed that Strasbourg first-team coach Kalifa Cisse, assistant head coach Justin Walker and head of analysis Ben Warner will all join his backroom staff as he begins his tenure at Chelsea.
