Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam announced that the CitizenApp will usher in an era of complete traceable and accountable government transactions.
Speaking at the official launch of the CitizenApp at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel on Monday, October 7th, 2024, Dr. Amin Adam emphasized the app’s transformative potential.
“With the CitizenApp, all government transactions will be fully traceable and accountable,” he declared, highlighting its role in reducing financial mismanagement and corruption.
The minister also outlined how the app will reform tax administration, addressing long-standing inefficiencies.
“Tax compliance has historically been difficult, requiring individuals and businesses to navigate multiple platforms and visit VRA offices in person to fulfill their obligations,” he explained.
With the CitizenApp, the entire process will be simplified, increasing compliance and, in turn, boosting revenue collection to fund critical sectors for long-term growth.
Dr. Amin Adam stressed the broader impact of the app, underscoring its potential to revolutionize public service delivery. “Whether it is filing taxes, applying for a passport, renewing a driver’s license, or paying utility bills, the CitizenApp makes it possible in one place,” he stated, underscoring its inclusive design that empowers every Ghanaian, regardless of their economic standing or location.
The event was further distinguished by the presence of the Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who celebrated his birthday while championing digitization as the new norm in both public and private sectors in Ghana.
