The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has announced a nationwide strike set to commence on November 4, 2024.
This decision follows prolonged delays in finalizing a new salary structure for staff of the Civil Service and Local Government Service.
CLOGSAG, in a statement issued on October 22, expressed frustration over the failure to meet the October 31, 2024 deadline set for the completion of the new salary structure.
CLOGSAG had previously threatened to strike in July 2024 but postponed the action after discussions with the government.
The association agreed to suspend the strike after receiving assurances that the salary structure would be finalized by the end of October and implemented from January 2025.
Despite several meetings since then, CLOGSAG claims that no concrete offers have been made by the government, leading to the decision to proceed with the strike.
“In the light of the above, CLOGSAG would have no option than to declare a nationwide strike from Monday, 4th November, 2024,” the statement emphasized.
The association is pressing for a swift resolution to the salary structure issues, citing the need for equitable compensation for civil and local government workers.
The upcoming strike will disrupt services across various government departments, unless an agreement is reached soon.
