A Financial Expert from the University of Cape Coast, Dr Seyram Kawor has urged the government to prioritize the completion of abandoned projects, warning that failure to do so results in massive financial losses.
Speaking on Prime News on ABC News GH, he stressed that successive governments must take responsibility for unfinished projects rather than leaving them to deteriorate.
“It is their responsibility to fix these situations,” he stated.
He cited the Komenda Sugar Factory and Agenda 111 as prime examples of stalled projects that have now become financial burdens.
“It was done with Komenda Sugar Factory,” he said, pointing out how previous governments abandoned critical initiatives, leading to wasted investments. He warned that if Agenda 111 remains incomplete, the significant funds already invested will go to waste.
Dr. Kawor called on leaders to break away from the “winner takes all” mentality in Ghanaian politics, arguing that national development should not be tied to party affiliations.
“The kind of politics we do is the winner takes all, and we cannot build the country with that notion,” he asserted.
He urged the government to prioritize continuity in governance to maximize the impact of public investments.
