Former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians following his recent removal from office.

In a statement issued on March 14, 2025, Dr. Dampare thanked God and the people of Ghana for their prayers, blessings, and unwavering support throughout his tenure. He acknowledged the overwhelming love and encouragement he received, particularly in the aftermath of his dismissal.

Dr. Dampare extended his gratitude to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing him as the youngest IGP in the Fourth Republic, as well as to President John Dramani Mahama for the cordial working relationship they shared.

He also appreciated the support and guidance from religious and traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and the international community.

“I am overwhelmed by the considerable show of love and support from many loved ones and well-wishers across the country and the world, especially over the last 24 hours,” Dampare stated.

Reflecting on his 35-year career in the Ghana Police Service, Dr. Dampare expressed his gratitude for rising from General Constable to IGP and thanked his colleagues for their dedication.

Reaffirming his commitment to Ghana, Dr. Dampare emphasized that, at nearly 55 years old, he remains energetic, disciplined, and dedicated to serving his country with integrity.

“Being given the rank of Inspector-General of Police, the highest rank attainable for any police officer, gave me an incredible opportunity to serve. The contributions of the rank and file of the Ghana Police Service to security, law, and order during my tenure have been enormous.”

“I have served the Ghana Police Service for 35 of my nearly 55 years of life with an unblemished record. I remain energetic, committed, and enthusiastic about serving this nation that I love,” he emphasized.

He wished the Police Service well and encouraged officers to continue upholding professionalism.

His statement, signed by his Executive Assistant, Nana Osei Afrifa, concluded with a pledge to contribute to Ghana’s progress in any capacity he can.
