President John Dramani Mahama has appointed former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelevo as the new Board Chairman of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Domelevo, who is widely respected for his uncompromising stance on accountability and fiscal discipline, takes on the role at a time when the Office is intensifying efforts to strengthen Ghana’s anti-corruption drive.
As Auditor-General, Domelevo earned public recognition for uncovering several financial irregularities in the public sector, winning praise from civil society groups and governance experts.
His controversial exit from office in 2021, however, raised concerns about institutional independence and the broader fight against corruption.
His return to a key accountability institution is therefore seen as significant for restoring public confidence.
Domelevo was also a member of President Mahama’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, which was tasked with collecting data and making recommendations on possible corruption cases.
The committee’s report was later submitted to the Attorney-General, who is working to initiate prosecutions.
His experience in both investigative and policy advisory roles positions him to lead EOCO’s board in pursuing reforms and stronger enforcement mechanisms.
