The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has firmly rejected the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to rerun the parliamentary election at a polling station in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency.
This announcement comes after the EC suspended the results for the third time, citing the absence of a pink sheet for the Abokobi Women’s Development Centre 2 polling station.
Speaking on ABC Midday News on Monday, December 30, 2024, the NDC Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, voiced the party’s displeasure.
“We are not accepting the rerun. We have won the elections. There was no over-voting; everything went on well. Counting was properly done. Then the EC officers decide to fill a different form—how does that affect the people’s choice?”
Dr. Tanko asserted, adding that the party remains resolute in its stance.
“Reason up, this is a simple administration matter, its not a legal matter.”
He indicated that the NDC will not be going to court over the Abokobi Women’s Development Centre 2 polling station in the Dome Kwabenya constituency incident.
The EC’s announcement has sparked heated opposition from the NDC, which insists that its candidate, Elikplim Akurugu, was duly elected in the December 7 parliamentary poll.
The party maintains that the EC’s actions undermine the integrity of the electoral process and vows not to allow these lapses to negate the voters’ decision.
