After more than six and a half years of dedicated service, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh is stepping down as the Deputy Director-General (Quality and Access) of the Ghana Education Service (GES), effective February 21, 2025.
During his tenure, Dr. Tandoh played a pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s education landscape, focusing on improving quality, accessibility, and learning outcomes for students across the country.
Reporting directly to the Director-General, Dr. Tandoh oversaw four key divisions within the GES, ensuring that policies aligned with the Education Strategic Plan (ESP 2018-2030).
His leadership spanned crucial areas such as research, assessment, monitoring, and evaluation, all of which contributed significantly to the advancement of education in Ghana.
Under his watch, major initiatives such as the Double Track System for Senior High Schools (SHS), the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP), and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) COVID-19 Accelerated Funding were successfully implemented.
Reflecting on his time at GES, Dr. Tandoh expressed pride in the milestones achieved.
“It has been an honor to contribute to the advancement of education in Ghana. I am particularly proud of the work we have done to expand access and improve quality, and I am confident that the GES will continue to build on these achievements,” he stated.
His influence extended to curriculum reform, education in emergencies, and professional teacher training, cementing his legacy as a key architect of Ghana’s modern education system.
