A tense atmosphere has gripped the Obuoho-Fante community in the Ayensuano District following the destruction of mining equipment.
Four excavators at a small-scale mining site were reportedly set on fire by a team believed to be Forestry Commission officials.

In response to the escalating tensions, Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey travelled to Obuoho-Fante to assess the situation firsthand.
She was accompanied by a team of police personnel.
The Minister and her team visited both the community and the site where the excavators were burned, seeking to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and to de-escalate the rising tensions.
