Executive Director for CARE-GHANA, David Kumi Addo has raised concern over the EC’s seeming silence on seats won by the NPP under contentious circumstances.
His comment comes in the wake of the annulment of parliamentary results of some nine constituencies by the EC.
Speaking on ABC in the morning, he cited the case of Damongo, which according to him, was won under questionable circumstances given the violence that characterized the election in the area.
He further argued that the EC is overreaching its powers as there is no regulation under C.I 127 that permits it to call for re-declaration after initial declaration is done.
“Obviously there is no law that allows EC Chair, Deputy EC Chairperson or any of the Directors the opportunity to call for a redeclaration, so we know that that is not going to stand,” he said.
