The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured Ghanaians that parliamentary results from the December 7 polls will be available by 8 PM on election day.
According to the party’s Deputy General Secretary, Haruna Mohammed, this confidence stems from significant upgrades to the party’s collation system.
Speaking to Citi News, Mohammed revealed that improvements and features added to the system have drastically reduced the time required to compile results.
“We have done a test run, which has given us a shorter time compared to the last elections, and I can assure you we have made enough improvements in our collation system,” he stated.
The party also expects to finalize the collation of presidential results earlier than in previous elections. Highlighting the success of a dry run conducted over the weekend, Mohammed expressed confidence in the system’s efficiency. “By the time the polls close at 5 PM, by 8 PM, we should be able to know who has the majority,” he affirmed. The NPP’s proactive approach aims to enhance transparency and expedite result announcements.
In preparation for the elections, the NPP says it has fine-tuned its organizational strategy. Mohammed explained that the party has conducted multiple test runs to ensure readiness. “We need to try as much as possible to make sure we put all our final touches to this campaign,” he said. He added that all necessary resources, including polling agents and other personnel, have been organized to ensure a seamless Election Day. The party remains optimistic about its prospects and readiness for the polls.
