Constitutional Lawyer, Justice Abdulai has disclosed that it is not out of place for the government to revisit recommendations that were initially rejected as proposed by the Emile Short Commission.
The commission, set up in the wake of political violence during a by-election in Ayawaso West Wuogon in 2019, made a series of recommendations to address political vigilantism and enhance electoral security.
Some of these recommendations were dismissed by the government at the time, sparking public debate over their significance and potential impact.
But in recent times, Justice Emile Short, again, called on the government to implement the full proposal by the commission as we in closer to the 2024 elections.
Speaking on ABC in the morning, Justice Abdulai stated that it is within the government’s prerogative to review past decisions, especially if circumstances have changed or if there is new evidence suggesting the recommendations could be beneficial to national security and political stability.
