In a tragic turn of events at O’Reilly Senior High School, Edward Borketey Sackey, a final year General Arts student, has been stabbed to death by a fellow student.
The incident which occurred on Monday, September 2 on the school’s premises happened shortly after the 18-year-old had completed an exam.
According to a cousin who witnessed the confrontation, the violence erupted during a quarrel with a peer named Godwin, resulting in Sackey being stabbed three times in the chest.
The cousin recounted that the altercation stemmed from a seemingly trivial dispute over personal belongings.
Despite Sackey’s attempts to seek help from teachers present at the scene, they reportedly did not intervene.
The cousin also noted that a passerby was the only one who assisted in transporting the critically injured student to LEKMA Hospital, where Sackey was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The lack of immediate response from school authorities has further fueled the family’s distress.
Sackey’s father has expressed deep frustration over the school’s and authorities’ handling of the situation.
“The school authorities have not said anything from yesterday, the police have not called, and even the family of the boy who killed my son has not reached out,” he told TV3’s reporter Noble Crosby.
He is demanding justice and accountability, calling for both the school and the perpetrator’s family to provide answers regarding the fatal incident.
