The Ghana Education Service (GES) has approved an optional Easter break for Form 2 students in Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools operating under the Transitional Track system.
The break, which spans from Thursday, April 17 to Monday, April 21, 2025, is intended to offer students the opportunity to observe the festive season with their families.
In a directive issued on April 11, 2025, to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES clarified that the break is not compulsory.
“Students who wish to travel home and celebrate the Easter festivities with their families should be given the opportunity to do so,” the statement emphasized. Students who choose to remain on campus during the break will continue to be supervised appropriately to ensure their safety and well-being.
The statement, signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division on behalf of the Acting Director-General, also instructed that all students who travel must return to school by Tuesday, April 22, 2025, to resume academic activities without disruption.
Regional Directors have been tasked with ensuring the directive reaches all affected school heads for immediate implementation.
