The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken immediate action to revoke all recent appointments of teaching and non-teaching staff who have not yet been placed on the government payroll.
A statement signed by the Acting Director-General of GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, clarified that this decision follows a directive from the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President.
The move aims to enforce stricter compliance with government policies regarding public sector employment in the education sector.
“All Regional, District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Directors are to ensure that this directive is strictly followed,” the statement read, underscoring the importance of adhering to the policy.
The directive, which also applies to other sectors, aligns with an earlier instruction by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who revoked all appointments made into the Public Service after December 7, 2024.
The GES confirmed that any additional instructions would be communicated as necessary.
