The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially set the dates for two of the most anticipated exams in the country— the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In an announcement dated January 24, 2025, the GES informed Regional Directors of Education about the schedules, urging swift preparations ahead of the testing season.
According to the letter signed by Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, the BECE will take place from June 9-16, 2025, while the WASSCE is scheduled to run from August 4 to September 19, 2025.
Regional Directors are expected to relay this information to district officials and school heads to ensure candidates are adequately prepared.
With the stakes high, the GES has called for all parties involved to focus on getting students ready for the exams, which are seen as crucial milestones in Ghana’s education system. The registration period for WASSCE will be communicated by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) later.
