The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that Mohammed Huzeinu, the fan who invaded the pitch during Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad, has been sentenced to 100 days in prison.
Huzeinu’s actions disrupted the Matchday 5 fixture last Friday, momentarily halting play and creating a major security breach. His unauthorized entry onto the field could also have financial consequences for the GFA, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) strictly prohibits pitch invasions and may impose a fine.
In response to the incident, the GFA has urged all football supporters to adhere to stadium security measures, warning that any violations could lead to severe consequences, both for individuals and for Ghanaian football as a whole.
With Ghana currently leading Group I in the World Cup qualifiers, the focus remains on ensuring smooth and secure matchday experiences as the Black Stars push for a place in the 2026 tournament.
