The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has announced its decision to embark on a nationwide strike, effective Monday, July 15.
This development follows an announcement by Organised Labour, of which GMA is member, to embark on a nationwide industrial action effective Monday, July 15, to register its displeasure over the proposed sale of a 60 percent stake in four hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City Hotel Limited.
In a press statement by the association, the impending industrial action is to reiterate their demand that SSNIT immediately terminate the process of hotel sales following an emergency National Executive Council Meeting on Friday, July 12.
“This is to press home the demand for Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SNIT) to terminate the sale of sixty percent (60%) of its shares in the four (4) Hotels,” the statement reads.
In accordance with the roadmap for the industrial action, all Out Patient Departments (OPDs) services are expected to cease or shut down effective Monday, July 15, followed by the withdrawal of emergency services on Thursday, July 18.
