The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders has been caught up in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso.
In a statement issued on Sunday, February 15, 2026, and signed by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government described the development as disturbing.

According to the statement, the truck, which was transporting tomato traders from Ghana, was attacked on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso that has experienced repeated terrorist incidents in recent years.
“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso on Saturday 14 February 2026,” the statement said.
The Minister indicated that the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently engaging local authorities to ascertain the full details of the incident.
“The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is liaising with the officials of Burkina Faso to visit the attack site for details and identification of Ghanaians caught in the attack,” the statement added.
Government assured that further updates would be communicated to the public as more information becomes available, particularly regarding the identities and condition of the affected traders.
