The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced the Ghana International Press Centre (GIPC) as the central hub for election-related media activities during the ongoing electoral period.
The initiative aims to provide a convenient venue for press conferences by political parties, candidates, and stakeholders.
In a press release, GJA General Secretary Kofi Yeboah stated that the Gifty Afenyi Dadzie Conference Hall at the GIPC would be available for these engagements, encouraging media houses to deploy teams to ensure comprehensive coverage.
As part of its efforts to enhance transparency, the GJA also unveiled plans for a National Media Collation Centre (NMCC) at the Press Centre.
The NMCC will serve as a central point for collecting and collating election results, with projections displayed on large monitors for real-time updates.
The facility is expected to provide a reliable source of information for the media, political actors, and the public, reinforcing the association’s commitment to fostering credible and transparent elections.
“The GJA is committed to facilitating credible elections, and this initiative underscores our role in ensuring transparency and accessibility during this critical period,” the release noted.
The association expressed confidence that the designated hub would encourage productive interactions between political actors and the media, contributing to peaceful and successful elections.
Media houses have been urged to utilize the Press Centre’s resources and actively participate in the activities organized by the GJA.
