The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the government, through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), is providing GH¢40 million in seed money to support four emerging public universities in Ghana.
The beneficiaries are the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UNER), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and the S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SD-UBIDS).
This funding aims to accelerate the development of these institutions.
Speaking at the 5th Congregation of the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences in the Upper East Region on June 21, 2025, Minister Iddrisu explained that the financial boost will help expand infrastructure, enhance research capabilities, and improve the overall learning environment for students.
These investments are critical to ensuring that the universities can meet increasing demands and maintain quality education.
“This government is fully committed to nurturing our young public universities, ensuring they have the necessary resources to develop and provide quality education that meets the demands of our evolving economy,” the Education Minister emphasized.
